Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is PCD and what makes it suitable for cutting tools?
PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) is a synthesized, highly robust mass of randomly oriented diamond particles integrated into a metal matrix. Sintered under high pressure and temperature, it provides exceptional abrasive resistance, heat dissipation, and a long service life, making it ideal for precision machining.
What kinds of materials can be processed using PCD tools?
PCD tools are optimized for non-ferrous metals and alloys (such as aluminum, copper, brass, and green tungsten carbide) as well as non-metallic materials (including ceramics, reinforced plastics, hard rubber, and artificial wood fiberboards). They are not recommended for ferrous metals.
What are the recommended cutting conditions for aluminum alloys?
For aluminum containing 5-8% Silicon, cutting speed ranges between 350-1600 m/min with a feed rate of 0.10-0.40 mm/rev. For higher Silicon content (14-18% Si), the speed should be reduced to 160-800 m/min with a feed rate of 0.05-0.25 mm/rev to prevent excessive tool wear.
Do you support customized tool manufacturing?
Yes. We specialize in custom tool fabrication. We can develop and manufacture PCD and PCBN turning, milling, and woodworking tools according to your technical drawings, parameters, or specifications.
What materials are used for the main body of PCD tools?
The structural body of our PCD inserts and tooling utilizes premium, high-grade tungsten carbide or hardened steel to ensure high rigidity, stability, and durability during heavy-duty CNC machining.
